This tea has a mellow, smooth, sweet tasting liquor that is full in the mouth and has a strong body. It has a typical nutty character found in second flush Darjeeling with hints of papaya, amber, geranium and chestnut. The Singbulli garden is located in the Mirik area in Darjeeling and is spread across nine rolling hills over an area of 22kms with altitude varying between 1200ft to 5100ft above sea level. The best areas of the garden are amongst the monasteries and pure, crystal-clear lakes. Originally established in 1924 by British planters, this tea estate was taken over by Jayshree Tea and Industries in 2003. The garden has four divisions, namely Singbulli Division, Manja Division, Tingling Division and Murmah Division. Jayshree Tea management is very active in ecological farming and maintaining bio-diversity at the garden and has initiated various programmes for soil conservation and environmental protection. The garden management plants different types of grasses, leguminous crop, short height shrubs and tall trees in the fallow land all along the boundaries of the sections and in vacant patches. The second flush term refers to teas plucked during May to June in the gardens of Darjeeling. Each ‘invoice’ from the 80 or so gardens is unique and amounts to approximately just 90kgs. The best of these teas are picked during a short period in late June and early July. The teas we source are from gardens where sound social and environmental policies are in place. They belong to many associations including IMO, USDA Organic, India Organic, Ethical Tea Partnership, Fairtrade, UTZ and Rainforest Alliance. 1120
