The young tea leaves are distinguished by white hairs found on the underside of the leaf, which when oxidised turn a golden colour that adds to the distinctive appearance of the rolled pearls. These delicate hairs also impart much of the tea's character and depth.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe tea is produced in Fengqing in the Yunnan Province of China at an altitude of around 1,800 metres.
