Tea

What's in a name? Well, as far as tea goes it has come to mean an infusion of almost any leaf, fruit or flower in water. In this category, you will find what we might choose to describe as 'real' or 'traditional' tea, derivatives of the plant known as Camellia Sinensis, rubbing shoulders with herbal and flowers alike. The major difference between 'real' tea and these equally delicious alternatives, apart from the flavour, is caffeine content.

If you want to search more specifically for any kind of tea please use the handy filter menu on the left or choose a category from the drop-down menu. Happy browsing but more importantly, happy infusing!

This tea has such a complex, astounding, rich, ripe fragrance that I cannot describe it well enough to do it justice! I have noticed nuances of honey, vanilla, peach, orange, musk rose, nectarine, quince, lichee among many others. The picturesque Phuguri garden in the Mirik Valley grows the rare and best clonal tea bush variety known as AV2. This clone produces the best tasting Darjeeling but will only grow in a small number of places there. The flavour is as exquisite as the aroma so if you like Darjeeling you simply must try this. Phuguri is a bio-organic garden.

Turzum Garden's premier first flush Darjeeling enchants with delicate muscatel notes and vibrant citrus aromas, evoking bergamot and ripe oranges. Floral undertones mingle with rhubarb and custard apple hints, creating a fragrant bouquet. The flavour profile is complex, featuring subtle peach and apricot accents, with sweet vanilla tones that balance the crispness of oil of wintergreen. Each sip reveals Turzum's Himalayan terroir and exceptional craftsmanship, leaving an impression of refined elegance. This is invoice DJ3, for my fellow aficionados who like to know these things!

The addition of a small amount of special oil of bergamot from the variety of this fruit grown in Taiwan adds another layer that makes this one our most distinguished Earl Grey teas, one that offers a complexity not usually found in scented teas. This bergamot has a different flavour to our classic top quality Italian oil used to flavour our other Earl Grey varieties. The base tea is Golden Lily, a black tea famous for its creamy, milk-like aroma, which complements the rich body and transfers into the flavour with a caramel taste. As well as being rich in flavour it is also heavy with theaflavins, exhibited after cooling, when they emulsify to create a milky appearance. Jin Xuan translates as Golden Day Lily and this tea is as fragrant as the flower, with a fruity, floral lingering finish.

Goji berry, allegedly a new 'superfood' has a flavour not dissimilar to black tea so it is ripe for use in a tea blend. The dried berries themselves have a hard to pin down flavour, notes of blueberry, cranberry, cherry and chocolate plus some almost herbal nuances spring to mind. This flavour proves to be a perfect foil for our natural oil of bergamot.
