Si Ji Chun is the cultivar selected to make this black tea, and only the best hand plucked summer tea leaves, which have a very high catechin content make the grade. The tea leaves, tight and dark black, produce a deep red, lingering liquor, which tastes smooth, sugar cane sweet and with a strong fragrance and flavour of cinnamon and nutmeg. There are floral notes, grape, damson, eucalyptus and wildflower honey. As with all Taiwanese teas, every sip tastes different to the last. This special tea is made in Zhu Shan in Nantou County, a famous tea growing area.

A blend not dissimilar to our Russian Caravan but with the addition of some Tarry Lapsang Souchong. In truth, this recipe is closer to the original 'Russian Caravan' flavour which has changed over the years to suit the British palate. One can, however, imagine this tea brewing on top of a steaming Samovar and listening to Alexander Pushkin reciting his poems. The malty, chocolate notes of the two non-smoked components of the blend are complemented by the sweet, smoked pine fragrance.

The original and best grade of this famous smoky tea is grown in a nature reserve. It is smoked naturally with the authentic Chinese pine root and is gentle, clear and full flavoured.

Thailand is a relative newcomer to the world of tea production but due to the use of fine Taiwanese tea stock and expertise is making big waves in the high-quality tea market. This rarity has a fruity, caramel-like bouquet with a cup that shines in amber tones. It is very aromatic with a subtle sweetness and hints of honey on the palate.

The Black Fairy tea is from the north of Vietnam and comes from very old tea trees. This location and the special processing makes for an exceptional tea with a special chocolate taste with hints of forest fruits and sweet, honey like notes. It is exceptionally smooth.

This smooth, full-bodied black tea has bold floral notes, a strong spicy aroma, and a pleasing caramel finish. There are also red grape and cocoa notes that linger. It is similar to a fine Assam tea in its full body but has almost no bitterness, like a golden bud tea from Yunnan.
