Classic Caramel Chocolate Covered Liquorice

Classic Caramel is one of those combinations that feels immediately familiar, but Lakrids by Bülow gives it far more depth than an ordinary salted caramel sweet.

Soft sweet liquorice sits at the centre, surrounded by a generous coating of smooth dulce chocolate, then lifted with crisp flakes of sea salt. The chocolate brings a warm, caramelised richness, the salt cuts through the sweetness and, finally, the deeper liquorice character appears underneath.

This is precisely the sort of flavour combination that made us want to stock Lakrids by Bülow. Rather like a good tea or coffee, it isn't just one flavour from beginning to end. There is sweetness, creaminess, caramel, salt and liquorice, each appearing in turn.

I think it is particularly good with rich black teas, roasted oolongs and smooth medium-roast coffees. Caramel and roasted flavours naturally echo one another, while that little touch of sea salt makes both the chocolate and the drink seem more vivid.

66% dulce chocolate (cocoa solids: 23% minimum) (EU) (sugar, milk powder, cocoa butter, whey powder (milk), cocoa mass, milk fat, emulsifiers (soy lecithin, lecithin), natural flavours), rice flour, sugar, invert sugar syrup, molasses, glucose syrup, 1% raw liquorice (non-EU), 1% sea salt (non-EU), rapeseed oil, salt, glazing agent: shellac, colour: iron oxide, natural flavour.

Cocoa solids: 23% minimum. Gluten free. Protect from heat and moisture.
