Elderflower, roses, cherry, tangerine, mandarin, tonka bean, freesia, Medjool dates—just a few of the flavours and fragrances our discerning customers discover in this tantalising tea. With its sweet muscatel fragrance, it's one of the rare teas that reveals something intriguingly different with every brew.
From the Mango Tree Garden in North Kurseong Valley, this second flush Darjeeling comes from a garden that's been pioneering organic and biodynamic farming in the region since 1861. Farmed according to the cycles of the moon and certified Fairtrade since 1994, it sits at an altitude between 3,500 and 5,000 feet—where the magic happens.
Second flush teas are plucked during May and June, with the finest picked in late June and early July when the muscatel character truly shines. The fragrance is variously described as reminiscent of muscatel grapes, a rose garden in bloom, or the sweet scent of peach skin and honey. Each garden's harvest is unique, yielding just 90 kilograms per invoice.
This exquisite infusion comes from gardens with sound social and environmental practices, certified by IMO, USDA Organic, India Organic, Ethical Tea Partnership, Fairtrade, UTZ and Rainforest Alliance. Ambootia means 'Land of the Mango Trees'—and in every cup, you'll taste why.
