Jade-White Porcelain Cloud Tea Cup

A small porcelain tea cup with a soft jade-white colour and a beautifully restrained cloud design worked into the surface.

The gently matt porcelain and shallow relief give the cup a tactile quality without making it overly decorative. The raised pattern is based on the traditional auspicious cloud motif, associated in Chinese art with good fortune and harmony.

Its small size makes it particularly suited to Gongfu tea drinking, allowing a tea to be poured and tasted over several short infusions. It can also be used as an individual tasting cup for comparing teas or simply for enjoying a smaller serving at leisure.
