Jin Jun Mei Golden Souchong Black Tea
Jin Jun Mei Golden Souchong is one of China's most coveted black teas, discovered in the Wuyi Mountains at over 1800 metres altitude. Crafted by legendary tea master Mr Liang Junde using a refined method that bypasses traditional smoking, it develops delicate notes of fruit, flower, honey, malt and caramel with the gentlest hint of pine smoke.
Sourced from the early March picking before Qing Ming, these tightly twisted leaves showcase a striking concentration of golden tips. The clear, sweetish liquor delivers the honey and fruit character this tea is renowned for, with remarkable clarity and elegance in every cup.

This Jin Jun Mei Golden Souchong represents one of China's most coveted black teas, born from a serendipitous discovery in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian in 2005. Whilst accompanying guests through the mist-shrouded peaks, Mr Jiang Yuan Xun discovered wild tea bushes flourishing at over 1800 metres altitude within the Wuyi Nature Reserve. The suggestion to craft black tea from these precious buds led to the creation of this extraordinary brew.
The legendary tea master Mr Liang Junde undertook the challenge himself, drawing upon centuries of expertise from Tongmu village—the birthplace of black tea three centuries prior. Rather than the traditional smoking process, he refined a method that allows the tea to develop its signature complexity: delicate notes of fruit, flower, honey, malt and caramel with the gentlest hint of pine smoke.
What makes Jin Jun Mei truly exceptional is the painstaking labour involved. Over twenty skilled farmers spend an entire day harvesting the tender shoots needed for just a few hundred grams of finished tea. The subsequent manufacturing demands equal artistry and precision, which explains why premium grades command prices exceeding £1000 per 100g.
Our offering is sourced from the early March picking, before Qing Ming—the traditional season when China's most celebrated teas are produced. The delicate, tightly twisted leaves display a striking concentration of golden tips, noticeably smaller and more refined than other golden-tipped varieties. The clear, sweetish liquor delivers precisely the honey and fruit character this tea is renowned for, with remarkable clarity and elegance in every cup.
Limited supply available. We can also source the highest grades to order.
