The leaves used to make Magic Dragon Pearls are from the highest-grade spring teas picked around the time of Qingming, or pre-Ming festival, about two weeks after the spring equinox. The young tea leaves are distinguished by white hairs found on the underside of the leaf, which when oxidised turn a golden colour that adds to the distinctive appearance of the rolled pearls. These delicate hairs also impart much of the tea's character and depth.
The tea is produced in Fengqing in the Yunnan Province of China at an altitude of around 1,800 metres. Each leaf is hand-picked and hand-rolled from the Huacha varietal — a large leaf species prized for its complexity and full-bodied nature.
What makes this tea truly special is its flavour profile. The liquor is smooth and rich, naturally sweet with subtle chocolate and raisin notes that unfold with each infusion. It's the kind of tea that rewards a moment of stillness — equally at home in the afternoon or as an evening indulgence.
For best results, we suggest using 3-4 pearls per cup. If taking with milk, this quantity allows the tea's character to shine through beautifully.
