Sea Buckthorn is one of the brighter, more distinctive flavours in the Lakrids by Bülow range.
At the centre is soft sweet liquorice, coated in creamy white chocolate and sea buckthorn, then finished with a crisp sugar shell. The flavour arrives in stages: first a bright, almost citrusy tang, then the smooth sweetness of white chocolate, followed by the deeper liquorice underneath. That contrast is exactly what makes it interesting to us. It has the sort of balance and progression we normally associate with a well-made tea or coffee rather than a conventional sweet.
It is also one of the best Lakrids flavours for pairing with tea. I’d especially enjoy it with green tea, white tea, lightly oxidised oolong or a bright, aromatic coffee, where the natural acidity of the sea buckthorn can lift the drink rather than compete with it.
