Sour Strawberry Chocolate Covered Liquorice

This one gives the range something quite different: much brighter, sharper and fruitier, but still with the same layered character that makes Lakrids by Bülow feel so at home alongside good tea and coffee.

At the centre is chewy red liquorice, surrounded by silky white chocolate with strawberry, then finished with a crisp green sugar shell. The flavour is inspired by fresh green strawberries, so rather than being simply sweet it has a distinct tartness running through it.

The first impression is fresh and fruity, followed by creamy white chocolate, then the deeper liquorice centre. A final sour note keeps everything lively and stops the sweetness becoming too heavy. Lakrids by Bülow describes it as fruity, sour and crispy, which captures it very well. 

For us, that contrast is what makes it particularly interesting. Like a good tea or coffee, it changes as you taste it: fruit, acidity, creaminess and liquorice all appearing in turn.

I’d pair this especially with green tea, lightly oxidised oolong or a bright, fruit-led coffee. The acidity in the strawberry works particularly well with fresher, more aromatic drinks.
