DARJEELING SUMMER ROSE SECOND FLUSH BLACK TEA

Darjeeling Summer Rose Second Flush Black Tea
As low as £21.00
This tea has such a complex, astounding, rich, ripe fragrance that I cannot describe it well enough to do it justice! I have noticed nuances of honey, vanilla, peach, orange, musk rose, nectarine, quince, lichee among many others. The picturesque Phuguri garden in the Mirik Valley grows the rare and best clonal tea bush variety known as AV2. This clone produces the best tasting Darjeeling but will only grow in a small number of places there. The flavour is as exquisite as the aroma so if you like Darjeeling you simply must try this. Phuguri is a bio-organic garden.

Phuguri is a bio-organic garden belonging to many associations including IMO, USDA Organic, India Organic, Ethical Tea Partnership, Fairtrade, UTZ and the Rainforest Alliance. The garden is north east facing with gentle hill slopes. The garden ranges from 3500 " 6000 ft. above sea level. There is ample amount of rainfall throughout the year. The factory is well equipped to ensure that the inherent quality present in the leaf is retained. The advent of winter leads to a period of dormancy between December to February which results in the concentrated flavour of 1st and 2nd Flush teas from March to June every year. The local weather is very suitable for the garden as it has a cool temperature, generous rainfall and cloudy sky broken by bright sunshine at regular intervals. As a result, the factors combined help in maintaining the fine fragrance of the tea produced. The old tea bushes on the plantation are replaced by new ones to an extent of 2% every year. INFORMATION FROM THE PHUGURI GARDEN Phuguri produces one of the "finest clonal" teas in Darjeeling district. Young bushes flush during the month of April with juicy young leaves, the magic begins with the tender touch of the lady pluckers who pluck "two leaves and a bud" with care, attention and love. The heavenly aroma of this particular Darjeeling tea lingers for long inside the mouth. Over a span of five years, the unmatched "Tippy Clonal" has gained fame all over the world. Our decades of experience have taught us to harvest the leaf at the right stage (because even a delay of one day could hamper the tea quality) and identify the optimum time in which the best character of the bush is fully expressed. We take special care during the storage and transportation of the harvested green leaves as they are extremely tender and can easily be damaged by improper handling, bacteria and heat. A final pre-pack backing is also done to remove excess moisture present in the tea leaves which significantly enhances shelf life and encourages the tea flavour to mature over a period of time as in the case of fine wines. Moreover, in order to maintain the final product as "authentic" as possible, we still use the original old machines which cost more to run but preserves the original Darjeeling character better.
