TRADITIONAL BLACK TEA BLENDS

We feel that the special tea blended to our own recipe and sold exclusively in our shop reflects the great tradition of British tea drinking. Our breakfast tea fulfils the British taste for a 'good strong cuppa', both invigorating and comforting and our special Earl Grey evokes memories of the elegance of afternoon tea, cucumber sandwiches without the crusts and tea dances! We have also added our Sunny English Afternoon Tea to reflect the truly British tradition of 'lazing on a sunny afternoon', along with many more! All this whilst raising the bar to new heights in terms of quality and flavour and doing our bit to rid Britain of its current reputation for 'drinking the worst quality tea imaginable'!

A special blend of three of the world's best black teas that have a unique flavour profile that give the infusion a natural taste of wild honey. Malt, spice, fruit, honeysuckle, peach, nectarine and chocolate notes are among the many that compete for recognition as the tea reveals its character seemingly in waves upon the tongue.

A velvety smooth blend of three exquisite teas. The deep red, lingering liquor of one of the components, carries a strong fragrance and flavour of exotic spice. Another has a strong red grape aroma in the dry leaves with a raisin-like flavour in the cup that also carries subtle notes of bergamot and mint. The third part delivers dark chocolate, rose, peach, and honey.

When I read that Squadron Leader George 'Johnny' Johnson, the last surviving ‘Dambuster’, having survived the dangerous mission, celebrated with a cup of tea, I was reminded how so often at times of stress and crisis we turn to this ‘water bewitched’ for comfort. The two teas I’ve chosen are a strong, smooth Assam blend and a very special tea that adds a touch of honey, sweet tobacco and malt to the flavour. It also has an intriguing appearance.

This is a tea to savour, whether as a treat for yourself or a gift from a loved one. We use a beautiful, golden tipped tea from the birthplace of tea Mount Meng Ding. It has a rich flavour, like cocoa and rose, almost Turkish Delight! This is balanced by a tea grown in primaeval forests in another province of China, near the Lancang River, that is smooth, toffee-like, with hints of sweet tobacco and honey. The third part has a complex flavour and an astonishing, floral and fruity fragrance. Perfect gift for Father's Day! Or just to say I love you! Even if it's to yourself!

Robert Fortune was a tea pioneer. Let your taste buds follow his trail as he travelled on his daring mission to steal tea secrets from China! The infusion has hints of cocoa, rose, caramel, sweet tobacco, ‘Muscatel’, honey and frankincense, this tea will keep the most discerning palate intrigued for years.

Jenny’s favourite teas, which she brewed ceremonially every morning and drank from her favourite cup, long before anyone else was awake, were Keemun Hao Ya B and a big leaf, malty Assam from Mangalam. We’ve blended the two together to combine the pleasure she took from drinking them. Both teas have a rich body but are smooth; the notes of malt, molasses, orchid, chocolate and rose complement each other perfectly.

To this day, the Lincoln Imp stands frozen in place....or at least until no-one is looking, when he often indulges his taste for a fine cup of tea by visiting one of Lincoln's other magnificent Norman buildings, home to Imperial Teas. Not content with helping himself to a cup of tea, he also likes to mess around in our blending room. The result is that we have no idea what he puts in this tea from one blend to the next! Needless to say our blending room only contains the finest teas and flavouring ingredients so we can guarantee you get a surprise of quality! We can't promise you'll get the same tea twice though! The tea is strong and malty with a subtle hint of whatever takes the Imp's fancy.

To this day, the Lincoln Imp stands frozen in place....or at least until no-one is looking, when he often indulges his taste for a fine cup of tea by visiting one of Lincoln's other magnificent Norman buildings, home to Imperial Teas. He likes his tea strong and malty so we've selected a rich, tasty pure Assam tea from the peak of the harvest from one of our favourite gardens. As we hope you might expect from us, just because it's a tea bag doesn't mean we've compromised our standards. We've used the same high quality teas as our loose leaf teas, packed at a 40% higher dose than you'll find in other tea bags, into plastic free tea bags for your convenience.

Only the best will do when sending your love from the beautiful city of Lincoln. Perfect as a gift or drink to celebrate a great memory you have of Lincoln. Even if you've never been the flavour is worth savouring anyway! We have selected five of the best black teas in the world, all from Taiwan, to make this stunning blend, on a base tea of finest Assam from India. The liquor will offer a rich, sappy liquor that is sugarcane sweet, malty, has hints of caramel, honey, ripe nectarine, cinnamon, nutmeg, frankincense, raisin, red grape, muscatel, bergamot, rose, mint and dark chocolate. The fragrance is equally complex, flittering through the four seasons from evergreen, wild, mountain meadow flowers and ripe summer fruits. Lincoln was a Roman city and continued its importance through the Norman era when construction of our beautiful cathedral began. Lincoln continues to grow as a modern city built around its historic buildings and heritage.

A classic blend that has doubtless changed over the centuries but this version is still incredibly popular. It is a blend of two distinctive types of tea from China that combine to produce a smooth, light and refreshing cup. Hints of chocolate, orchid, rose and a warm, woody character means it is equally at home with or without milk and makes a delightful afternoon tea.

A very smooth but full flavoured infusion given a beautiful 'Muscatel' aroma by the touch of Second Flush Darjeeling added to the blend of teas from fine gardens. This is slightly lighter bodied than our Superior English Breakfast but offers a fine, traditional cup of tea any time of the day.

Chosen by the 'Independent' newspaper as the perfect breakfast tea, it is a hearty but smooth blend of garden Assam tea with lots of golden tips. Blended solely with quality in mind this traditional 'English' tea uses three different leaf styles to deliver a rounded cup with 'Superior' flavour, aroma and appearance. It is the only breakfast tea we offer, believing that no one would want to drink what could only be considered an 'inferior' breakfast tea! This is best appreciated with the addition of full cream milk using one rounded spoon per cup.
