These beautiful handmade tea bowls, Yunomi, are produced in the Mino area, in the southern part of the Japanese Prefecture GIFU. There are 4 complementary but very different designs to the set, each depicting a flower. Each bowl is unique within itself being handmade.
These beautiful handmade tea bowls, Yunomi, are produced in the Mino area, in the southern part of the Japanese Prefecture GIFU. There are 4 complementary but very different designs to the set, each depicting a flower. Each bowl is unique within itself being handmade.
The pottery is called MINO-YAKI and has been produced for more than 1000 years. A wide range of techniques such as Oribe, Shino, Kizeto, etc. are used to create a wide variety of tableware and tea ceremony items. Centres such as Tajimi, Toki and Mizunami, together account for 50% of the total contemporary pottery production.
