The body is finished in a softly textured glaze reminiscent of fleece, contrasted by a smooth, dark face that grounds the form. In traditional gongfu tea practice, a tea pet is more than ornament. During preparation, excess tea is poured over the figure, allowing the ceramic tea pet to gradually develop a soft sheen. Over time, its surface deepens subtly, shaped by repetition and use rather than display.
