This matcha is sourced from Nishio, a region in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, known as one of the country’s premier matcha-growing areas. With over 800 years of tea cultivation heritage, Nishio matcha is prized for its exceptional quality, rich umami flavour, and bright, vibrant green colour.

The area’s ideal climate, fertile soil, and pure water contribute to the smooth, mellow taste that makes Nishio matcha stand out. The tea leaves are shaded before harvest to boost their L-theanine and chlorophyll levels, resulting in a naturally sweet, mild, and creamy flavour with minimal bitterness.

Only the finest first harvest leaves are used, carefully steamed, dried, and stone-ground into a fine powder. This traditional process preserves the full nutritional value and flavour complexity of the tea.

Key Features:

  • Sourced from Nishio, Japan – a region famous for premium matcha
  • Smooth, mellow taste with rich umami and light sweetness
  • Brilliant green color due to high chlorophyll content
  • Made from first harvest (Ichibancha) leaves
  • Shade-grown, hand-selected, and stone-ground
  • Ideal for traditional preparation (Usucha) or everyday enjoyment
  • Rich in antioxidants, L-theanine, and catechins

Whether you're preparing it as a mindful daily ritual or using it in a tea ceremony, matcha from Nishio offers a refined and authentic Japanese tea experience.

This tea is made using traditional Japanese techniques passed down through generations. Unlike mass-produced matcha—which is harvested 2 to 3 times per year with chemical inputs—this matcha is certified pesticide-free, and lab-tested for safety, purity, and quality.

Each 30g tin is produced in small batches and ground at a low speed (just 30g per hour) on handcrafted granite mills. This protects the matcha from heat damage and ensures the resulting powder is extremely fine, preserving all the flavour and nutrients.
