These beautiful porcelain tea bowls, Yunomi, are produced in the Mino area, in the southern part of the Japanese Prefecture GIFU. There are 5 complementary designs to the set, each in a Japanese illustrative design using the famous blue colour.
The pottery is called MINO-YAKI and has been produced for more than 1000 years. A wide range of techniques such as Oribe, Shino, Kizeto, etc. are used to create a wide variety of tableware and tea ceremony items. Centres such as Tajimi, Toki and Mizunami, together account for 50% of the total contemporary pottery production.
