NO.1 SWEET LIQUORICE

This is Lakrids by Bülow in its purest form.

No. 1 Sweet is a soft, chewy liquorice with the natural sweetness of liquorice root, balanced by a gentle strength and a touch of pure aniseed. There is no chocolate or fruit here to soften the flavour — just a clean, rounded expression of really good liquorice. Lakrids by Bülow describes it as the “pure essence of liquorice”, and that feels exactly right. 

What makes it interesting is the balance. It is sweet, but not sugary in the way an ordinary sweet can be; there is depth from the liquorice root, a slightly herbal character and that subtle lift of aniseed at the finish.

For us, this is perhaps the easiest way to appreciate why Lakrids by Bülow treats liquorice almost as an ingredient in its own right. There is enough flavour and length here to make it genuinely interesting alongside tea or coffee.

I’d particularly pair it with Assam, breakfast tea, darker oolongs or a rich medium-roast coffee. The liquorice works beautifully with malty, roasted and gently spiced flavours.
