SUMMER RAIN YUNNAN HANDMADE BLACK TEA
Yunnan Summer Rain is a meeting of two traditions: the ancient birthplace of tea and the modern artistry of Taiwan. In the warm valleys of southern Yunnan, where summer rains fall heavy and air clings with heat, rows of Jin Xuan tea trees spread broad, tender leaves. This cultivar, first bred in Taiwan for its natural sweetness and creamy texture, has found new expression in Yunnan’s soil, its roots drinking in the richness of the land. The leaves are harvested in the balmy height of summer, when growth is fast and flavours run deep. Following Taiwanese artisan craft, the leaves are turned and shaken again and again, encouraging gentle bruising and slow oxidation. A final mild roast settles their character, softening sharpness into depth, brightness into warmth.
When the tea meets water, the leaf unfurls and releases the scent of roasted stone fruit, a fragrance both inviting and nostalgic. The liquor is smooth and silken, carrying notes of peach and plum, honey dripping into citrus brightness, finishing with the clean lift of pomelo. With each infusion, sweetness deepens, the fruit darkens, and the roast lingers, echoing the storm-warmed air of a Yunnan summer.
Yunnan Summer Rain is at once familiar and surprising: a black tea shaped by Taiwan’s Jin Xuan heritage, given new voice by Yunnan’s soil and season. It is a tea of warmth, fruit, and honeyed brightness, a harmony of places and traditions.
